Pressure has been developing in the Himalayas along one of the world's highest land borders, with New Delhi and Beijing both blaming the other for violating the Line of Actual Control (LAC) that divides the two. The territorial status has for some time been questioned, emitting into various minor military clashes and diplomatic eyebrow-raising, since a wicked war between the nations in 1962. Recently, top military commanders met to cool-off the rising political mercury levels in Ladakh. Indeed, even today, exactly what happened on the ground, in the exceptionally mobilized locale, stays indistinct because of the role of media. Media on both sides has focused on propaganda and warmongering that has hindered the de-escalation of the matter. Chinese media's broadcast of People's Liberation Army (PLA) moves in the locale -with planes and trucks loaded with troops - in what state media portrayed as "exhibiting China's ability of ...
COVID-19 |
Looking at the current Global scenario caused
by the COVID-19 pandemic, no country can think of having an advantage over
others. But once it’s over each country will try in to push others on the mat for the Global supremacy. Large
economies will tumble which in turn weaken their political mileage in the
global affairs. China, being definitely the first global power to get a hold
over the pandemic, will definitely have an edge over others. But does this means
China will be the “next superpower” on the top of “Global Hierarchy”? It’s not that
easy.
Although, China seems to be in an
advantageous position in future on the first look, yet it accompanies all the
ill wills,’ The Dragon’ has created while handling the Corona virus situation
at home and disclosure of information to the world outside, from the other
global powers like U.S, Australia, Britain, France, Germany and many others. Many
American companies have started moving out of the China and many others are
planning to move out. Countries like U.S, Germany and Australia have directly
held China responsible for the outbreak of China and label Corona as a “Chinese
Virus”. All these things are not just name-callings but are a direct threat to
the “World’s Factory” status of China. China may soon find its market without
any foreign companies and this gives a chance for countries like India and
Vietnam to replace China as the “manufacturing giant”.
Speaking of India, it can be in an
advantageous position if all major MN Cs opt to move out of China. But is India
really ready to replace China? The answer to that question is “No, not yet”, because
India lacks the skilled workers, swift administrative decision making and above
all, we aren’t sure how bad Corona situation is going to get in India. But India
is definitely to get some share of profit if it works on its economic corridors
in U.P. and between Delhi and Mumbai in a quick manner and project itself as a
contender, at least. At least ten MN Cs are interested in moving to India, but
currently these are assessing the situation in India. On the other hand Vietnam
has a fair control over COVID situation and is rigorously trying to project
itself as a base for the companies moving out of China.
Countries like Russia, Germany, France
and U.K. are not in a position to go for the top spot due to present COVID
scenario. So, it brings us back to the “universal boss”, U.S.A. U.S. seems to
be most affected by the corona virus but still it has the best chance to
continue as the table topper in the global power index. This is because of its military
might, which has unparalleled advantage over its competitors. Of course U.S.
needs continuous financial support to sustain it but a slowdown of a year or
more won’t be unmanageable.
Thus, it seems that this COVID situation
may not bring any alterations in the Global Political Order, but definitely
weaken the economies of the nations world over, with unemployment, hunger and
poverty being the major challenges ahead.
