Irresponsible Role of Media in the recent Indo-China Border Tussle

Pressure has been developing in the Himalayas along one of the world's highest land borders, with New Delhi and Beijing both blaming the other for violating the Line of Actual Control (LAC) that divides the two. The territorial status has for some time been questioned, emitting into various minor military clashes and diplomatic eyebrow-raising, since a wicked war between the nations in 1962.      Recently, top military commanders met to cool-off the rising political mercury levels in Ladakh. Indeed, even today, exactly what happened on the ground, in the exceptionally mobilized locale, stays indistinct because of the role of media. Media on both sides has focused on propaganda and warmongering that has hindered the de-escalation of the matter. Chinese media's broadcast of People's Liberation Army (PLA) moves in the locale -with planes and trucks loaded with troops - in what state media portrayed as "exhibiting China's ability of ...

Puzzle of World Economy: What makes a country rich or poor?

Click here to support the blog.            Adam Smith, the Scottish economist, often hailed as the father of Economics, wrote a book titled An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of The Wealth of Nations , generally referred by its shortened title The Wealth of Nations . In this book, first published in 1776, Adam Smith talks about the things that make a country rich or poor. Now, almost two and a half centuries later, we still are having huge economic disparities among various nations, that keep widening with the passing time. We all have heard the phrase, “Money cannot buy you happiness”, at some point in our lives. Of course, money can’t buy you happiness, but it can buy you things that can make you feel happy. Forget about the villas, the private jets, and the luxury cars. You need money to put food on your table, to shelter you, and to cover yourself. All these are basic human needs that one cannot get without money....

How Goa became part of India?

Map used by the Portuguese Click here to support Portuguese Conquest of Goa      Portuguese were the first among the other European Powers that colonised India. In 1510, Goa was captured by the Portuguese General Alfonso de Albuquerque from the Sultan of Bijapur, Ismail Adil Shah. Albuquerque set up Goa as a base for his future expeditions of Malacca and Hormuz in 1511 and 1515 respectively. Goa was used as a strategic location, by the Portuguese, to expand their "semi kingdom" in Asia which included other parts of India such as Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Malacca and other bases in Indonesia, Macau in China, the Persian Gulf and many Japanese trade bases. Hence, Goa became their "Asian capital".   Estado Da India      In 1757, Joseph 1 of Portugal issued a  declaration , prepared by his  minister  Marques de Pombal,  allowing  Portuguese citizenship to all the subjects of their colonies in India. The enclaves o...

India is Now All about The " Left versus Right” Fight

Both, in the title of my post and in the current political situation in India, the "Centre” is not in the centre. And the reasons for that are many, but the most profound of them is the state of ignorance, that “Centre” is founding itself in. The leader of the “Centre”, of course is Congress. But INC is a bunch of ignorant and puzzled politicians (I am deliberately not using the word “leaders”) as they don’t know what to do and which way to go. I know some of you may think, “But that’s what centre does, it sticks to the middle and doesn’t go for the extremes”.  But that’s not the point, as Congress is right now like a fish out of water and is surviving on the nitpicking of the Government, lacking any substantial issues to come forward with. Wherever we see an issue raised by the others, Congress seems to pounce like a hungry desperate cat on it and spoils it for others also. Now, mentioning Congress alone in the topic can’t be called as fair means of r...

Caring for Mother Nature

Introduction :-    On every Mother’s Day, we post the pictures of our mothers and then get busy in our lives for the next year. What we fail to realize that we all have a common mother, whom we neglect even on the Mother’s Day. Yeah! I am taking about Mother Nature. Some of you do not even consider nature as your mother and treat her like a slave of yours, which sadly many of us, even do to our human mothers as well. Whether it is “Human Mother” or “Mother Nature”, each deserves respect and care that they themselves provide unconditionally and without any asking. It’s not about morality but about the principle of natural justice or karma. It is plain and simple, if you don’t care for something, that thing ceases to be of yours. If you don’t respect your health, you will become unhealthy. If you don’t respect your wealth, you will face abject poverty. If you don’t respect yourself, you lose yourself. And it is applicable to everything around you...

An Ode to "British Capitalism and Colonialism".

Big Ben Once, there were “Six Men”, ruled by the almighty “Big Ben”. One of them raised “A Hen”, and sold the eggs in “The Glen”. Not only he earned “The Sen”, but also got paid in “The Fen”. Three of them boarded “A Ship”, and went on to “Global Trip”. They promised to take “A Nip”, but soon tightened “The Grip”. Then they unleashed “The Whip”, enslaving all without “A Slip”. The last two acted as “The Blight”, emptying the world of “The Light”. Enslaving people was then “A Right”, and all superiors were “The White”. They were not able to see “The Site”, and ended up losing all “Their Might”.                                   References used: 1.        Six Men: Population of Britain was almost 6 million at the time of industrialization. 2.        Big Ben: Tower clock used as the symbol of London. ...

Global Political Order after COVID-19

COVID-19                      Looking at the current Global scenario caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, no country can think of having an advantage over others. But once it’s over each country will try in to push others on the mat for the Global supremacy. Large economies will tumble which in turn weaken their political mileage in the global affairs. China, being definitely the first global power to get a hold over the pandemic, will definitely have an edge over others. But does this means China will be the “next superpower” on the top of “Global Hierarchy”? It’s not that easy. Pearl Tower                        Although, China seems to be in an advantageous position in future on the first look, yet it accompanies all the ill wills,’ The Dragon’ has created while handling the Corona virus situation at home and disc...
